‘JAKE’, an experimental editorial by multifaceted photographer and artistic director, Julia Howe. Sharing her time between London and Berlin, Julia’s aim is to deconstruct visual narratives, recognisable here in her simplistic approach. Julia captures the notion of what is ‘Poster Boy’ visuals; visuals that were prominent in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

The pair of creatives go it alone, putting the project titled ‘JAKE’, together, with a combination of Howe’s artistic direction, exceptional photography skills and Jake’s personal style, to create a story of nostalgia.

Jake Aliwell, a new member of the Contact Modelling agency, is seen here styled in Vintage Versace, accentuated by muted colour tones, championing looks you might expect to find flicking through a pile of old magazines from the noughties.

Through a baroque approach to styling, cutting edge post edits, and modern-day photography techniques, ‘JAKE’ shines a light on a golden era within the traditional print world. An ode to a bygone time of carelessly accurate and foolishly astute photography. Utilising the subject was key for this collaboration, and Julia Howe proves again why she’s one to keep an eye on.
