Kosi Tides – Get To Know Q&A

With all this covid/lockdown malarkey going on, we decided to fire a few quick questions to one half of Northaze duo, Kosi Tides. Having recently embarked on a solo tip, the Leeds man born rapper has been busy getting things in place. Without being too revealing, he hinted at music and shows in the pipeline.

What first got you into music?

I think just listening to whatever my parents was listening to, the list goes on forever from artists to genres, I’d say it gave me an open mind for it & made me wanna find more.

Who inspired you to make music?

Just watching the locals freestyle tbh, there was always someone spittin’ 16s in the park & I guess it stemmed from watching them, I got into it through freestyles.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I  don’t know to be honest, I feel the music I make is pretty moody with an essence is trap snares & 808s, a lil alternative trap sounding I guess

What is your creative process like?

I’m a pretty quick spontaneous thinker, I can finish a song in an hour or I can take a couple days, just depends where my heads at and what the inspirations are at the time, but I tend to get the job done pretty fast

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

It would be a producer, like chasethemoney, nuri or alchemist; I feel my voice wouldn’t blend well with many artists

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Mmm Kendrick, I feel his audience would appreciate what I got the most

What is the most useless talent you have?

Guitar hero expert, idk how it happened but here we are

Where have you performed / What are your favourite and least favourite venues /  Do you have any upcoming shows (post-covid)?

Performed in a lot of spots when I think about it, pretty much all over the uk, would love to take it overseas of course, favourite venue would have to be stylus, I love a spacious stage makes it much easier to perform, least favourite venue was probably one spot in Glasgow, I can’t even remember the name as I tried to remove it from my memories, manyyy upcoming shows but can’t announce until we know for certain

What is your favourite song to perform?

Probably pulp diction 2, I’m pretty bored or performing the same things though so will be nice playing this new shit

Which musicians do you admire?

I don’t really have anyone I admire, luckily lol. Many have admirable music though for sure

Do you have any upcoming projects you’re working on?

Working on a lot right now, just being patient with it all & making sure I’m content with what’s being created, not much longer though I can happily say

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

I don’t actually know, I tend to go off my own accord & see how shit works out, I’m sure it would’ve been something about being yourself

What’s next for you?

More Northaze more solo, just taking my time with it, the way this years gone there’s no need to rush anything, live ya life.
